Housing distress due to violence in relationship or marriage
If there is violence in a relationship, the situation quickly becomes unlivable. It starts small, but often it gets worse. There are women who use violence, but it is mostly men. In some countries it is worse than in others.
Violence can be physical or psychological. Physical speaks for itself. Psychological is by looks or especially words manipulating or humiliating your partner. Many people who are abused are afraid to discuss it.
Fear of revenge
Men who face violence in a relationship are afraid of being laughed at or not believed. They are afraid to go to the police or a support agency. There are more men than you think who face violence in a relationship.
Some people are afraid that their partner will retaliate after discussing violence. The aggression can then only get worse. There are huge shortages of police officers or security guards worldwide. Some deliberately take advantage of this.
Reasons for violence in a relationship
Often people who use violence or abuse someone have had a violent childhood. Many want to vent because they are not comfortable in their own skin. Most people do not get help out of ignorance or because of shortages of caregivers. If you had one or two violent parents, you often become an aggressive father or mother yourself.
Some have good parents, but grow up in a dangerous neighborhood. As a young person, you don’t easily see the dangers of something, so unconsciously you can make the wrong friends. Together you start trying things and it often gets worse. Under pressure from the group, you keep doing your thing anyway, because you want to stay with the group.
It starts with something small, for example, theft or burglary and then you start dealing drugs, etc. There are people who when they get out of the gang face revenge. The revenge takers know that people who get out of a gang might go to the police. Those may start talking and giving a lot of information to the police.
The consequences of continued violence
If the violence stays in a relationship, people often don’t want to live with their partner anymore. There is a lot of violence around the world, and as a result, a lot of additional housing is needed. The government, among others, has a role to play in trying to reduce violence. This can be done for example by paying attention to this at school with the subject social studies.
Donald Trump won the U.S. election Nov. 5, so everything in the world is getting much better. Greetings and until next time.
